The Back-to-School Energy Every Entrepreneur Needs

Updated: Aug 25, 2025

Since I was a kid, I loved the sparkling feeling of going back to school — writing my school supply list, going shopping, and double- and triple-checking my wardrobe for the perfect first-day look.

Now that I’m a mom, I still feel that rush with my kids. Summer is changing to fall, change is in the air, and I’m giddy about packing their backpacks just right and getting their outfits together.

For us entrepreneurs, Back to School time also marks the near end of Q3 — an opportunity to reflect on our summer wins and tweak our plans for the fall. Here are a few ways Back to

School energy can help us organize and manage our businesses:

  • Reconnect with your network. August into September is a natural season shift and a great time to reach out to old friends, partners, and allies in the community before the holiday rush begins. Share hopes, goals, and vision for the season ahead.

  • School shop for your business. Just like kids need supplies, so do we. This is the perfect time to score office supplies and organizational tools at unbeatable back-to-school prices.

  • Re-set your workspace. Be it your home office or an external space, treat it like your command center — the hub of your business, family, and projects. Clear out summer papers and clutter, refresh your filing system (yes, I still keep file folders), and make sure everything you need for mental peace and productive flow is in place. For me, that's a visual, hanging wall calendar.

  • Recommit to your children’s education. For entrepreneurs who are parents, if we haven’t already, let’s get super clear about how we’re continuing to nurture our kids’ education — and the education of children in our communities. Set new goals for their growth and development, prioritize their health and well-being, and start planning enrichment for the holidays and next summer.

Three more ideas to carry summer momentum:

  1. Review your Q4 marketing plan. Align your outreach, be sure to accommodate your audience’s seasonal need

  2. Do a mid-year financial check-in. Compare your actual earnings and expenses to your projections and make adjustments now.

  3. Plan a fall learning goal for yourself. Sign up for a course, mastermind, or coaching program to sharpen a skill before year’s end.

Back to School is for us all.  It helps us refresh and also laser in on key productivity rituals that keep us moving in the right direction. So, what are some of the B2S activities you’re doing that have made a difference in your life and business? Drop a note below.
